OUR PROGRESS TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY
Since 1993, with the publication of its first Social Report, Unipol Assicurazioni has reported on the social, economic and environmental impact of its activities.
in 2006, reporting on the 2005 financial year, the first Social Report for the Group was produced. This progress was further strengthened with the following Social Report for the Group, which for the first time was approved by the Board of Directors of the company and submitted alongside other accounting and fiscal documents to the attention of the Shareholders' Meeting.
During the years that followed, with the creation of a Social Responsibility and Ethics function reporting to the Chairman, the establishment of the Committee for Social Responsibility within the Board of Directors, as well as the approval of a Charter of Values and the Code of Ethics, have given substance to a policy intended to confirm Corporate Social Responsibility as a strategy which is strongly linked and embedded in the more general strategy of UGF, its Business Plan and thus in the products and services offered to consumers and users.
At its meeting held on 13 May 2010 the Board of Directors of UGF approved the 2010-2012 Business Plan and in the meantime adopted the 2010-2012 Sustainability Plan. It is the result of teamwork throughout the whole Group: in fact the Sustainability Plan contains objectives and guidelines taken from the Business Plan, which in turn takes a sustainable approach.
Pending the next stage (the Sustainability Budget), which will be used as basis for reporting on activity), UGF has presented the 2009 Sustainability Report. This first edition represents the natural evolution of the Social Report. Its objective is to highlight the impact that the Group has when carrying out its activities, the contents being expanded to include more environmental and social information alongside economic and financial information.
