NAVALE ASSICURAZIONI

Established in Genoa in 1914, Navale Assicurazioni (www.navale.it) traditionally operated in the marine and transport insurance sector. At the start of the Seventies it became part of the Generali Group and relocated its offices to Ferrara. In the year 2000 it became part of the Unipol Group.

The 2009 financial year closed with a direct premium income of €269.7m.

The Navale Assicurazioni development strategy includes the expansion through multi-firm intermediaries. At the end of December 2009 the sales network included 543 non-exclusive agents and 1,442 sub-agencies. As of the same date the company had 132 employees on its books.

Navale Assicurazioni fully owns Navale Vita, a Life insurance company established in 1972. In 2005 a company belonging to the Mutuelles du Mans Group was merged into the Company by acquisition. 

In June 2010 Navale Assicurazioni merger project ready for the off: hive-off of Navale Assicurazioni's insurance business to UGF Assicurazioni and merger of Navale Assicurazioni (after the hive-off) into Unipol Gruppo Finanziario resolved.
